About the accommodation
A stay at our Singharaja Garden ECO-Lodge offers you plenty of space for impressive experiences and encounters. Our approximately three hectares of land are located on the foothills of the unique Singharaja rainforest, which is known for its enormous biodiversity and the quite large number of ethnic species around the world and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. Singharaja Garden is not open to tourism and so you spend your holiday in a tropical paradise together with friendly and simple but traditional people.
Since 2002, we have been involved in development cooperation for Sri Lanka and have gladly taken on responsibility in a culturally very different country. Tourism in Sri Lanka is booming and economically speaking a great opportunity, but at the same time a high risk. By staying at our lodge you will promote social justice, contribute to environmentally friendly tourism and support the preservation of the local culture in our region.
Accommodation
In December 2009 we opened the only ECO-Lodge in Sri Lanka certified for sustainability and social business so far and you can look forward to an exotic stay in one of our themed bungalows. Only two bungalows and a jungle loft for a maximum of twelve guests are located on our 30,000 square meter property - with sufficient space between the individual buildings. We would like to offer you the opportunity to create maximum privacy between gardens, organic agricultural land and untouched nature. This guarantees you peace and relaxation. We operate our ecological accommodation facilities in accordance with the guidelines of Corporate Social Responsibility and are certified for our sustainable concept. Our property serves our versatile organic agriculture and with the energy gained from our own photovoltaic island system, our lodge is completely self-sufficient.
Surroundings and activites
Singharaja Garden is not open to tourism, but we offer you an interesting and varied program to help you experience the beauty of the island during your stay. As part of our Adventure and Perception programme, we offer jungle walks as well as kayak and mountain bike tours. In addition, we offer you two different one-day tours to the highlights of the southwest and west coast as well as a two-day wildlife safari tour. Our body and mind offer includes various yoga classes and various wellness treatments such as ayurvedic massages and sound massages. Together with the association New Home Beruwala e. V. from Germany and the local authorities in Sri Lanka, we are involved in development cooperation and nature and species protection.
