About the accommodation

Charming fishing village converted into an agrotourism site. The fishermen’s huts are delightfully decorated in a rustic style, keeping the essence of building and fishing traditions of southern Majorca. Tailored to the needs of twenty-first century tourism, these small houses provide the comfort desired by the guests while immersing them in the nature. Aware of the importance of preserving this natural environment where the fishermen’s huts are located, s’Estalella was developed in accordance with sustainable development policies. The consumed energy comes from the sun, and no drop of rain is wasted by the original water collection system; the hot water is heated by the sun and if desired, you can have organic “zero kilometre” food.

Accommodation

S’Estalella Agrotourism is located in the Fishing Village of Sa Punta de S’Estalella, a former idyllic fishing village which dates back to the sixteenth century. Due to its architectural and anthropological value, it was listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) by the Council of Majorca in 2007. Thanks to its historical, geographical, and environmental uniqueness, the property is listed by multiple forms of protection. The European Natura 2000 network listed it as SPA (Special Protection Area for birds) and SCI (Site of Cultural Interest). At the state level it is an IBA (Important Bird Area). It is also registered as ANEI (Natural Area of Special Interest) and AANP (Natural Area of Special Interest with high level of protection) by the Balearic Autonomous Community. The rural property S’Estalella is a milestone in the struggle to preserve environmental heritage.

Casita de pescador s'Obrador

Located in the south east end of the row, this hut enjoys privacy and spectacular views. Obrador in Catalan means “place of work, where tools intended for fishing are repaired,” which explains that this hut was an everyday area of the village. The small loft in the hut was used to store nets and other fishing equipment. This fishermen’s hut is a unique space with a large kitchen and delightful views to the island of Cabrera. Ideal for couples seeking privacy and tranquillity or solo travellers in search of inspiration.

Casita de pescador Ca’s Garriguer

Located in the southeast row, a few meters from the shore but at a slightly higher level, its terrace seems to float in the sea. Ca’s Garriguer is set between Ca’s Patró and S’Obrador. The name “Ca’s Garriguer” comes from the function of its last inhabitant, “the Garriguer” word used in Majorca to refer to rangers, responsible for watching the pine forest of the rural property. The hut consists of three clearly defined areas: a common area which includes the living room and the kitchen, the bedroom and the bathroom. Decorated in a rustic style, a large window in the dining room allows to enjoy the rhythm and colours of the waves.

Casita de pescador Ca's Patró

Located in the heart of the southeast row, enjoy a large terrace with a tiled porch, with stunning views of the sea and the bay of "Es Trenc." The name has its origin in one of its inhabitants, the Patró Punta, one of the few fishermen who could boast of being a skipper and having their own boat. This is the most spacious house in the whole row. In the living/dining room you will find the kitchen, with views to the sea, a mezzanine prepared as a bedroom and a sofa-bed oriented to the wood stove. It was decorated in the same style as all the houses in this row: large clay tiles, predominance of wood and sandstone walls.

Casita de pescador Cas ses Titis

The next little house in the southeast row is small and very cozy. Despite being between Ca's Forn and Ca's Patró, its terrace is wide. As in each and every one of the houses, a small ladder of sandstone leads directly to the sea. The "Titi" family were fishermen who inhabited the house at the beginning of the 20th century, later abandoning it but the name still remains. It consists of a unique space, where the harmony of the lines helps to relax and let go by the spectacular views of the well-known beach of "Es Trenc". Perfect for couples, maximum with a small child.

Located in the center of the north row between Ca na Cossi and L'Escorial, Cabriol has two entrances. Large windows open to the south and a small door to the north, so you can always enjoy the sun. A "cabriol" is a small wooden cart, which fishermen had to use to travel short distances and transport goods or food for the exchange. The house is a unique space, where kitchen-dining room and bedroom live together, neatly separated by fishing nets in order to create cozy spaces. The bathroom is simple and modern, with a shower of centuries-old clay tiles. It is built with impressive marés walls, where small caves are the furniture.

Casita de pescador Ca Na Cossi

This is the largest hut at our disposal. Formerly it was the boarding house and inn of the village, where people passing through used to stay. Its name comes from the last fishermen family that lived there, from “Ca Na Cossi”, as they were known. A “Cossi” in Catalan is a vessel with a small base and a wide neck used to wash clothes. This renewed hut consists of multiple spaces: two bedrooms, a loft arranged as a third bedroom, a spacious outdoor living room-kitchen and a spacious lounge with a double sofa-bed. Of all the huts, this one preserves the most original elements, which gives it a rustic and authentic feel. This hut has a large cistern inside, spars and ribs of ancient ships as beams, a beautiful and rudimentary marés sandstone arch, handmade by a fisherman, and a spacious loft, used to store nets and other fishing equipment.

Casita de pescador Ca’n Pons

Right at the westernmost end of the north row lays Ca’n Pons, a hut with a special charm. Its extensive garden, large wooden windows and wild olive tree beams will captivate you at first sight. It was originally a dry dock-hut, and became this little house decades ago. The name comes from its first inhabitant, Mr. Pons. It is a very rustic hut thanks to the predominance of wood in the Majorcan wood blinds and window bars, as well as in the beams and furniture. It has a very bright and spacious living room and a large bedroom. Ideal for relaxing in any season.

Casita de pescador Cala en Paiàs

The hut Cala en Paiàs is located in the western part of the property, in a steep coastline area, pleasantly natural and wild. Formerly it was a house of “roter”. The “roter” was a humble peasant, to whom his “master” (peasant in charge of the management of the rural property of s’Estalella) donated a small and very poor area of the property, called “rota” (broken) that he did not intend to cultivate. The name of the hut comes from a neighbouring cove, Cala en Paiàs, so named because of the marine currents and prevailing westerly winds which brought large amounts of algae to the shore. The hut is simply stunning thanks to its enviable natural setting, which doesn’t neglect its traditional style. It has a large space where we find the kitchen, a spacious dining room and a spacious living room. Within the walls, and heated with an ingenious system, we find the bedroom, as cosy as a den. Outside there is a terrace of marés sandstone, in communion with the wild nature of the surroundings.
