About the accommodation
Farm holidays - there is something for everyone. Children are enthusiastic about the sweet pot-bellied piglets and the funny running ducks. For hikers, there is a great hiking paradise with magnificent views right on our doorstep and cyclists, anglers and ski enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Kleiner Wiesental. But you can also just relax in a good book and enjoy the silence and unspoilt nature here in the countryside.
The holiday farm Rössle is situated at an altitude of 590 metres above sea level, in the middle of the beautiful village of Wies in the community of Kleines Wiesental. The quiet village has 250 inhabitants and is located in an idyllic, sunny valley in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park.
Accommodation
Our large renovated farmhouse consists of five apartments. One of them is occupied by ourselves, three are permanently rented and one is used as a holiday home. The holiday flat is located in the former barn on our 3000 sqm plot with its beautiful old farm garden and the adjoining pastures. The barn part is connected to the old farmhouse by a bower. Externally, we have tried to change the building as little as possible. Inside, everything has been lovingly renovated with a focus on the use of local and sustainable materials. For example, the wall paints are based on clay and the insulation material is hemp. We run our farm according to ecological standards. The food we serve to our guests is more than 95 % organic and mostly local (from our own garden or from local producers). In addition to our own solar power plant, we use 100% green electricity.
Surroundings and activites
The pretty village of Wies lies in the Kleinen Wiesental. The mountain and valley landscape offers magnificent views of the Alps and the Vosges Mountains. The Belchen - the third highest peak of the Black Forest - invites you to hike and ski. Another beautiful hiking destination is the Nonnenmattweiher, a small, idyllic Karsee. Besides hikers, it also has a lot to offer Nordic walkers, swimmers and cross-country skiers. The Köhlgarten is a less well-known, but no less delightful excursion destination that can be reached on foot or by mountain bike. Its summit offers a great view of the Belchen.
Hikes to the Nonnenmattweiher or Köhlgarten can be started directly on our farm. There are also a number of small circular trails that start here. Cyclists also get their money's worth in the Kleiner Wiesental. Whether mountain bikers, racing cyclists or pleasure cyclists, there is something for everyone. Both forest trails and paved mountain roads invite you to explore them.
Location and getting around
We encourage our guests to use the bus and train to get to our farm. The nearest bus stop is Wies, Kleines Wiesental. From here you can easily get to Schopfheim by bus, where the nearest train station is located. A pick-up from Schopfheim railway station is also possible by prior arrangement.
If you are travelling by car, the exits of the motorways A98 (Lörrach-Mitte) and A5 (Müllheim/Neuchâtel) are each about 25 kilometres away from our farm.
