About the accommodation
Welcome to the Alentejo Coast!
In Santiago do Cacém, the Herdade do Moinho da Campa offers you comfortable accommodation in an excellent location. Close to our property are the beautiful beaches of the Alentejo coast and the Santo André lagoon nature reserve. From here you can see the mountains of Arrábida and you will be surrounded by an aura of the past that dominates the ruins of the Roman town of Miróbriga. A spacious environment surrounds the old mill, which has been converted into a cosy holiday accommodation. Nevertheless, the tradition can still be felt everywhere here, as great importance was attached to incorporating the history of the mill into the design. For example, you can still see the old windmill mechanism from the living room on the upper floor.
The Southwest Alentejo Nature Park is the guardian of the beauty of the Alentejo beaches, which have already been awarded international prizes.
Accommodation
The former mill was converted into a cosy holiday apartment, where you will find nothing missing on three floors. As a special highlight, you will also find a biological pool that promises relaxation for the whole family. Enjoy the Portuguese sun on our comfortable sun loungers and relax. The Herdade do Moinho also has some hidden seating where you can enjoy the sun or the shade, while you can enjoy the view over the Alentejo countryside in the background or enjoy the fantastic view of Santiago do Cacém and the Atlantic Ocean. It also has an outdoor barbecue and various outdoor dining areas that you can enjoy using.
Our Herdade is beautifully situated in the countryside, about half a kilometre outside Santiago do Cacém. On a small hill, next to the former mill, there is only the hosts' house and the miller's house.
Surroundings and activites
The Alentejo Litoral region has a clear reference to active tourism and the preservation of nature, which is emphasized by three nature reserves. Here you will find more than 130 kilometres of very rich and varied coastline, stretching from the Sado estuary to the slopes of the Southwest-Alentejo Nature Park, where you can stroll, hike and linger.
In addition to many hidden places and attractions, you can find many water sports activities along the dams and along the coast: Fishing, diving, surfing, kitesurfing or windsurfing (several schools in the area). The well-developed communal roads are ideal for cycling tours and thanks to our mild climate you can also try your hand at activities such as parachuting, paragliding or ballooning. Further highlights of the region are the ruins of Miróbriga or the Santo André lagoon. The nearest beach is about 15 minutes drive away.
Location and getting around
Our Herdade is located about half a kilometre outside Santiago do Cacém. The district capital, Setúbal, is about 75 minutes away, and Lisbon can be reached by car in about an hour and a half. Lisbon airport is about the same distance away. Parking spaces are available for guests arriving by car.
There are also bus connections from Lisbon to Santiago do Cacém several times a day.
